Contract Web Designer
The Company

the incentive and promotion industries, as well as individual travelers and corporations. Roadtrips hosts
thousands of guests every year at some of the most preferred destinations and exclusive major international
sporting events such as the Olympics, World Cup, Super Bowl, Masters and NHL All Star Weekend.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a web designer to join our marketing team on a full time contract basis until August (will consider part time hours). At the end of the term there is a possibility to extend the term if mutually beneficial.
The majority of the work is creating standards compliant Web pages (full or components) for the front-end of the new Roadtrips.com web site. You must have at least 1 year of experience with HMTL/ CSS and an
eagerness to learn. JavaScript, ASP and graphic design experience is a plus. This role will be approximately
70% implementation and 30% design/development.
Your Qualifications/ Experiences should include some (or most) of below:
- You understand what we mean when we say "CSS based layout, not table based"
- You know what the browser DOM is, and how the Mozilla DOM differs from the one for IE
- You dislike IE6 for its poor implementation of standards, but know how to coerce it into displaying things properly
- You are comfortable taking a mockup from design to slicing and coding
- You have basic understanding of search engine optimization techniques and how to apply them to
every page
Technologies (take this with a grain of salt, we need solid fundamentals more than X years of Y):
- XHTML / HTML, CSS, and Web Standards
- ASP, DHTML, JavaScript a plus
- Photoshop, Image Optimization
The Individual
Ideal candidates should possess the following skills:
- Minimum 1 year Web Design experience
- Self-starter with excellent communication skills
- Ability to create outstanding work while meeting deadlines
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
- Ability to work collaboratively with the other members of the team
- Passion for travel and/or sports a plus
